After The Gold Rush

Acrylic, plaster, and chia seeds for texture on high profile canvas (24" W x 30" H x 1.75" D)
This painting reminds me of an archeological dig site in Egypt or Mesopotamia. Perhaps it is a miners’s gold pan after being washed in the river. In either case it reminds me of being out in the wild, working on some kind of project.
I used acrylic paints, grout, and chia seeds to get the rich textures you see in the piece. I then applied several coats of non-toxic urethane varnish to give it a rich lacquered appearance. The result is a beautiful golden, monolithic work of art ready to be hung in a living room, bedroom, or entrance way.
