100 Metre Freestyle

Acrylic on low profile canvas (24" W x 30" H x 3/4" D)

This painting bubbles and roils with reds, blues, blacks and whites. A red swimmer churns across the canvas in mid-stroke through the blurred montage of colors.  Can you see him?  This painting was created by pouring the various colors on a canvas covered in wet black acrylic, then slowly swiping them across the black goo and letting the paints swirl and mingle.  The result is a vibrant, chaotic scene filled with action and color.

This piece grabs your eye and directs it everywhere seemingly all at once. I love the riot of colors that ultimately reveal the swimmer across the canvas.  It really is freestyle.
