High Sierra #5
Acrylic, tempera, and paper on high profile canvas (40" W x 30" H x 1.75" D)
This painting is part of my High Sierra series. Like all the paintings in this series it reminds me of being in the wild open spaces of the western United States. I love the vistas you can see in western states like New Mexico, Utah, and California. These are some of the most beautiful places on earth and they make terrific subjects for abstract paintings.
The best time of day for me is always the twilight hours when the light is just coming or going. It is these times I try to capture in my paintings.
I hope this painting reminds you of a wilderness experience you remember from a time in your life. Perhaps a time you would like to experience again.
